Coffee Gift Guide 2023 (Budget Friendly Edition)

Hey guys! As we move into the holiday season, we’d like to share a coffee gift guide with you to help your search for that special coffee nerd in your life. This post includes more “budget friendly” items that we either own, or we would recommend for someone just getting into specialty coffee. We also have a “splurge” list here. Or maybe they are just starting out getting some gear and these items would be a great additional to their coffee collection!

This is not meant to cover every single coffee item that is budget friendly. But we hope this at least points you in the right direction with this small list. We hope this is helpful for you! If you have any specific questions about coffee gear, reach out to us at hello@thecoffeenerds.co. Cheers!

Heads up: Some links on this blog are affiliates—we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Thanks!

Cosori Electric Gooseneck Kettle: $66.98

I personally use this one at home and it works great! Someday I will upgrade to the Fellow Stagg EKG (it’s on my wish list for anyone wondering…) but for now this does the job well. You have controls for the temperature and it connects to your phone via bluetooth. I use the timer setting so that I have hot water as soon as I wake up in the morning. Coming in at $66.98, this item is probably the highest cost on this page. But for what it does, it is definitely a good option for someone a little more serious with their pour overs, but isn’t ready to spend over $100 for a water kettle.

600ml/800ml Glass Carafe: $15.99/$17.99

Whether it’s to have a backup or you need a new primary, these are some solid carafes for the price. The 800ml is a good option if you are brewing large pour overs. The 600ml is good for smaller batches.

Cool Roast Curves “Brewbuster:” $30

This is one coffee that will turn heads. The packaging alone makes this a gift-worthy item for that coffee nerd in your life! I don’t know if this is a limited offering, so try to snag it before it is gone. Right now they are roasting a pink bourbon natural from Sebastian Ramirez. It is super delicious, and you can give your coffee buddy a little nostalgic keepsake at the same time.

Bagail Basics Coffee Scale: $14.99

This is a pretty sweet deal for a digital coffee scale and timer. No plugs or batteries needed for this guy, it charges using a USB-C cable and can hold a charge for 3 hours of use and 30 days total.

Counter Culture Coffee Subscription Gift: $16 – $19 per shipment

We love Counter Culture, and they have some really cool options for gifting coffee. You can choose your own adventure with a 3 month, 6 month or 12 month option. You pay per shipment, and this subscription is one of the few where you can choose to send one bag. We will share more details with their other subscription options in another post! If you don’t think a subscription is right for your coffee lover, then you can head down to your local Target and pick up a bag of beans from there!

Hario V60 02 Plastic Coffee Dripper: $8.89

Is there anyone you know that is getting into pour overs, but you don’t want to break the bank? This is a great starter option to try out a Hario V60 pour over.

Hario V60 02 Paper Filter: $5

Because you can’t brew a pour over without a filter! These are good stocking stuffers as well. You never want to run out of these guys.

AeroPress – Original: $31.95

The AeroPress is an awesome manual brew. It’s fun, and extremely portable. It is my go to travel brewer if I know I won’t have easy access to coffee while on the road. This is the brewer that went with me to Hawaii earlier this year. For the coffee lover that is always on the go, this is a neat addition to their coffee brewing experience.

Cosori Pour over: $29.99

From the makers of my electric kettle, I found this pour over set that is almost half the cost of a traditional Chemex. It is well reviewed and looks pretty nice if you are in the market for something like a Chemex.

Kalita Wave 155 Glass Coffee Dripper: $20.25

Kalita Wave makes a glass version that won’t hurt the wallet. Their entire wave series drippers are really easy to use and are much more forgiving compared to a V60. Kalita also makes a larger version (Kalita Wave 185).

Created Co Stainless Steel Tumblers: $20/$22/$24

We love everything from Created Co and their new tumblers are perfect for keeping your brews warm at home or on the go. Their 8oz tumbler fits perfectly under a portafilter too. We both highly recommend their products and are sure that the coffee nerd in your life would appreciate drinking their coffee from these tumblers.

Kalita Wave 155/185 Paper Filters: $9.89/$11.49

Don’t forget to add paper filters if your coffee nerd brews on a Kalita or something similar. Again, these work well as stocking-stuffers. Be sure to get the right size!

Hario V60 Pour Over Starter Set: $27.50

Maybe you don’t know where to start and you want to go all in on a complete set? Hario has the complete kit just for you! It comes with a plastic V60 02, a carafe, a scoop and paper filters. It has everything you need to get started with making pour overs at home.

Milk Frother: $5.59

A milk frother is a well rounded tool in the kitchen. From foaming up warm milk, or beating heavy cream for cold foam, this thing is easy to break out and use immediately. I use it the most making cold foam for my cold brews – you can check out an example here.
