As I walked into a kitchen in Long Beach, I was greeted by the sound of coffee beans tumbling in the roaster. Next came the aroma of freshly roasted coffee. Yeah, I’m definitely in the right spot. No question there. My only knowledge of Anomaly Coffee Company was from what I had seen on their Instagram. Time to see what this local coffee roaster is all about.
Who is Anomaly Coffee?
Meet Noah, the owner of Anomaly Coffee Company. I met him through networking on Instagram, and I was immediately intrigued by his small coffee business that he ran in the heart of Long Beach. A small-batch coffee roaster, running a business mainly through pop-ups on the weekends and offering bike delivery to a small radius of those who order online. Yes, you heard me right. You can make this guy work out and deliver coffee to your door on his bike! You can find out details on their site on the specific zip codes they deliver to, but if you live in Long Beach consider yourself lucky to have access to Anomaly’s coffee delivery!
More Than Just Coffee
Noah’s hometown is in Maryland. He made the trek all the way to Long Beach, CA and started Anomaly in August 2022. He came with a desire to start a small business, and chose coffee as his platform. Noah’s background working in kitchens allowed him to build a strong work ethic. He also loves the ability to connect with people. For Noah, coffee is a medium that allows him to build that connection with others. Through building relationships he has built a small network of people that can help support each other. Starting Anomaly was no easy task. Noah works his day job during the week, roasts coffee by night, and does pop-ups on the weekend.
“It’s a lot of hard work and long hours,” says Noah, but he loves doing it for the connections he makes in the local community. He is very active in connecting with others and even collaborates with local artists and DJs in the area. He has a page dedicated to some of the artists he’s worked with on his featured artists page.
Sustainability
Noah doesn’t stop at bike deliveries. He is always looking for ways to connect with local recyclers to help reduce waste. From reusing cardboard boxes for coffee shipments, to promoting reusable drinkware for his customers, Noah is trying to make an impact in sustainable practices by being an example in his local community.
Where can I find Anomaly Coffee Company?
The best place to engage with Anomaly is through Instagram @anomaly.coffee.co. Noah regularly posts their pop-up schedule each month. If you are local or just visiting the area, check out their schedule and go support a local coffee roaster!
You can also support him by visiting their website anomalycoffeecompany.com and check out all the current coffee offerings. I was able to taste his Ethiopia which I can say tasted very delicious – clean and very fruit-forward. It was great connecting with Anomaly Coffee and learning about what they do for their community. Keep an eye out on these guys. They are on track to continue to do cool things out here in Long Beach, California and beyond.
